KEYNOTE SPEAKER: ANDREW MORRIS-SINGER, MD

andrew morris singerDr. Morris-Singer, board certified in internal medicine, is president and founder of Primary Care Progress (PCP), a clinician, a medical educator and primary care advocate. He founded PCP in 2010 and it has quickly developed into an interprofessional, trainee-led, grassroots movement to reform primary care delivery and training. The organization has provided leadership development and advocacy training and coaching to leaders of more than 50 chapters across the country, all based at health professions training schools, and has campaigned widely for greater awareness of the value of primary care.

A former community organizer and trainer with more than 15 years of advocacy experience, Dr. Morris-Singer writes and speaks regularly on the topics of the value of primary care, the use of community organizing strategies to advance innovations in care delivery and training and the critical role of trainees in the revitalization of primary care. He is a frequent blogger, has been featured in mainstream media outlets including NPR, CNN and The New York Times, and speaks regularly at academic medical institutions and professional conferences across the country.

Dr. Morris-Singer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Ore., a Lecturer in Global Health & Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Family & Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah. He earned his medical degree at Harvard Medical School and completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He currently sees patients in a number of the Family Practices at OHSU.
